Synnex, Verizon Partner on Business Mobility, BYOD Solutions

Synnex (SNX) and Verizon’s (VZ) Enterprise Solutions unit have partnered on a distribution agreement that adds the carrier’s networks, advanced communications, cloud, applications, mobility and machine-to-machine offerings to the distributor’s MobilitySolv mobile portfolio.

From Synnex’s vantage point, the agreement gives its channel partners access to a set of infrastructure, cloud and communications services key to its mobility strategy.

“Verizon brings a configurable platform of products and solutions to the table for Synnex customers,” said Adnon Dow, Synnex Global Mobility Solutions vice president. “This alliance reinforces the strength of MobilitySolv and how Verizon Enterprise Solutions fits into the overall architecture of what Synnex is working to build for our customers through our ‘Connect, Move and Control’ mobility strategy.”

As for Verizon, the partnership supplies an open door to the midmarket, where it wants to play.

“By joining forces with Synnex, Verizon Enterprise Solutions has access to best-in-class solution providers, broadly and in industry-specific areas, which will help us expand our business to the highly valuable midmarket,” said Janet Schijns, Verizon Medium Business and Channels vice president. “A key differentiator in our relationship is that together, we are able to offer our customers a wide array of end-to-end fixed, mobile or cloud solutions.”

The two companies have an existing relationship—Synnex belongs to Verizon’s partner program—and now Verizon is participating in the distributor’s regional roadshow seminars to help showcase the MobilitySolv portfolio and overall mobile strategy to channel partners.

“Synnex’s relationship with Verizon is very important to the success of our strategy,” said Kevin Murai, Synnex president and chief executive. “Our approach to the channel aligns very well with Verizon’s, allowing us to combine our services that offer a road map for long-term success for our shared channel partners.”

Synnex kicked off its MobilitySolv initiative in mid-April to enable channel partners to capture a larger portion of sales as businesses increasingly transition to mobile enterprises. The idea is to equip Synnex’s channel partners with end-to-end mobility and connectivity solutions from best-of-breed vendors to deploy to customers to keep workforces connected and productive.

“MobilitySolv gives Synnex resellers a unique opportunity to solve their customers’ mobility challenges beyond just controlling devices,” said Dow. “It’s more about mobilizing the enterprise, while being able to analyze the data behind it and understand what to do with that data to make smart business decisions.”

Synnex has plenty of competition among distributors for the attention of mobility-focused channel partners. Tech Data’s (TECD) TDMobility unit links channel partners to carriers, manufacturers and software developers; Ingram Micro’s (IM) mobile division has an extensive folder of solutions; and Avnet’s (AVT) Technology Solutions arm has been operating its MobilityPath practice since October 2010.
