Oracle's Global Partners of the Year: Who Are They?

Sure, Oracle is best-known for its direct sales specialists. But the software, er, systems giant continues to grow its Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) Specialized partner program. And during the Oracle OpenWorld conference in San Francisco, Oracle this week put the spotlight on its global partners of the year. Here a look at nine of those partners.

Admittedly, The VAR Guy’s headline oversimplifies the conversation. The list below isn’t based on annual Oracle-related revenues. Nor is it based on a single particular project. Rather, the Oracle PartnerNetwork Specialized Global Awards recognize partners for their innovative and successful use of Oracle technologies – from application-to-disk, according to Oracle.

The awards also feature separate tracks specifically recognizing VAD and ISV partner performance. Nominees were judged by IDC executives and analysts, while VAD winners were selected by a panel of Oracle Worldwide Alliance & Channels Executives, Oracle says.

Now that you’ve got the back story here’s a look at Oracle’s global partners of the year. They include:

  1. Database Partner of the Year: TriCore Solutions, which offers managed services in such areas as Oracle DB, Oracle 9iAS, Oracle Portal, Oracle RAC, and Oracle Applications.

  2. Middleware Partner of the Year: Accenture, the global management and outsourcing specialist.

  3. Applications Partner of the Year: Deloitte Consulting LLP, a giant in the risk management and financial services markets.

  4. ISV Partner of the Year: SIV AG, the company focuses on the energy and water distribution verticals. And most interesting, SIV AG does major work in Germany — home of Oracle’s chief rival, SAP.

  5. Midsize Partner of the Year: DAZ Systems, Inc., which has completed more than 350 Oracle implementations to mid-market customers across North America and India.

  6. Industry Partner of the Year: Fujitsu, a rather interesting category, considering Fujitsu builds servers that potentially will compete more and more with Oracle’s Sun product line.

  7. Value Added Distributor of the Year: Arrow Electronics, apparently beating out Avnet Technology Solutions, which also has a close working relationship with Oracle.

  8. Server & Storage System Partner of the Year: Netcentric Systems LLC, which specializes in database-to-disk solutions.

  9. Embedded Partner of the Year: Nokia Siemens Networks, which is the second largest telecommunications systems supplier in the world. As a result, Nokia Siemens Networks plays a critical role in Sun’s continued momentum in the telecom vertical.

The VAR Guy is checking in with Oracle for additional partner award news. Sounds like some key North American partners also earned the spotlight this week. More details soon.
