Avnet39s Bawol says the SAP enterprise software deal will benefit its channel partners
Avnet's Bawol says the SAP enterprise software deal will benefit its channel partners.

Avnet (AVT) Technology Solutions will distribute enterprise application software maker SAP’s (SAP) analytics, database and enterprise mobility technology to its channel partners in North America, adding to a standing agreement between the two companies that covers China, India and other Asia Pacific countries.

The new deal also includes the SAP HANA converged technology platform, the SAP Afaria mobile device management solution, SAP Business Objects solutions, SAP Crystal solutions, SAP Lumira software, and SAP Sybase software.

“Enterprise software is predicted to be the fastest growing segment of the worldwide IT market in the coming year, and Avnet expects that our relationship with SAP in the U.S. and Canada will help our channel partners capitalize on the opportunity this presents,” said Jeff Bawol, ATS Americas president.

Bawol said ATS will supply channel partners with education, resources, services and tools to help build their enterprise software businesses, including:

  • Guidance to become SAP authorized resellers;

  • Targeted data-mining to help identify sales opportunities;

  • Creation of reference architectures for more converged infrastructure solutions;

  • Sales and technical training on drivers of enterprise software sales, including Big Data; and

  • Customized demand-generation programs to help partners close deals in key vertical markets.

“Our partners will be able to further differentiate themselves with an in-depth understanding of the crucial role services and hardware play in ensuring the success of enterprise software deployments,” said Bawol.

SAP is banking on the channel to gain market presence for its analytics, Big Data, converged infrastructure and enterprise mobility products, which is where ATS comes in, said John Graham, SAP Americas ecosystem and channels head.

“Avnet has proven expertise in quickly recruiting, educating and enabling a highly skilled channel partner community that understands how to serve as an extension of our sales force,” he said. “We believe Avnet and its partner community will be an impactful addition to our team. In cooperation with our channel partners and distributors like Avnet, SAP can further help our customers become better run businesses.”
