Tech Data, Sage Focus On Easy Electronic Health Records

Tech Data is working with Sage North America Healthcare Division on the health care vertical. Also news: Sage the first member of the brand new TechMed Vendor Affiliate Program. The aim is to make it easy to build an Electronic Health Records Business. And what does that mean exactly? Well, VARs in healthcare might want to read on…

For the uninitiated, Sage North America Healthcare Division supports more than 80,000 physicians across the country with medical software. That includes electronic health records (EHR), diagnostic imaging, billing, scheduling, mobile computing, claims submission and other practice-management solutions. Meanwhile, TechData has two hands in the health care pool; their new TechMed Vendor Affiliates, which will be supported by Tech Data’s Healthcare Specialized Business Unit. And now, Sage has jumped on the TechMed bandwagon. Seems like a good match up.

According to Tech Data Vice President, Government, Healthcare and Technical Services Barb Miller…

“Delivering effective IT solutions to the medical field requires a depth of industry knowledge most resellers do not yet have and that they can only acquire with a significant investment of time and resources…software developers like Sage are keenly aware of the processes and challenges involved with running a medical practice. [with the new program], we are enabling resellers and vendors to partner and leverage each other’s expertise to quickly capitalize on the demand for healthcare IT.”

Fluffy press-quotes aside, this blogger sees potential in the partnership, since software providers often do need a boost from IT resellers who understand the healthcare vertical. EHR and privacy a delicate and touchy subject, so smart deployment is key.

But if you're not working with Sage, there's still the new TechMed Vendor Affiliate Program to leverage. The goal is to custom-tailor, train and specialize in specific application for the healthcare market. If you're already a Tech Data reseller, you can partner directly with TechMed Vendor Affiliates to add these products to your healthcare offerings.
