Paducah, Kentucky-based managed service provider (MSP) Computer Services Inc. (CSI) reached its number 12 rank on this year’s MSPmentor 501 Global Edition by specializing in a particularly lucrative vertical market — financial services.

David Malcom, CSI’s vice president of managed services, noted his company offers specialized managed services to financial institutions, something that has helped differentiate the company from other MSPs in a crowded managed services marketplace.

“Over the past few years, we’ve capitalized on opportunities to fully integrate our managed services offerings, enabling us to blend various groups and grow in new ways,” Malcom told MSPmentor.

As CSI approaches its 50th anniversary, Malcom said it will continue to provide a full suite of technology solutions  designed to help customers become “more competitive, compliant and profitable.” For the company’s financial services customers that means the following services:

  • Core bank processing

  • Electronic and print delivery

  • Mobile and Internet solutions

  • Payment processing

  • Regulatory compliance support

Building on that industry vertical focus, Malcom said the company plans to focus sales efforts to financial services companies around value and ROI over the next few years.

Geography served: U.S.
Number of employees: 1,000+
Key Technology Partners: Cisco, EMC, Microsoft

“Many banks and credit unions are already outsourcing IT processes and technology to some degree, but many are still learning about the advantages of moving to a fully outsourced IT model,” Malcom said. “A key effort over the next few years will be to continue educating financial institutions on the value of a full suite of outsourced IT, as well as helping them make successful migrations to fully outsourced environments.”

But while CSI specializes in technology solutions for financial institutions, the company has a more general managed services practice, too.

CSI has grown from six employees in 1965 to more than 1,000 employees today.
