BroadSoft (BSFT) has added a cloud-based contact center software provider to its portfolio.

The unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) company has acquired Transera for an undisclosed sum.

Also, Transera CEO Prem Uppaluru will assume the role of general manager and vice president of BroadSoft Cloud Contact Center as part of the transaction.

So what does the acquisition mean for BroadSoft?

A BroadSoft spokesperson told Talkin’ Cloud the acquisition positions the company to capitalize on the large and rapidly growing multi-billion dollar cloud contact center market.

“Aligning Transera’s omni-channel and advanced analytics with BroadSoft’s cloud unified communications portfolio enables us to attack the market with a proven, enterprise-ready end-to-end cloud solution that supports small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to large global enterprises,” the spokesperson said.

In addition, BroadSoft noted it expects the acquisition to contribute approximately $7 million to $8 million in revenue this year.

The acquisition also may help BroadSoft boost its revenues over the next few years, as the cloud-based contact center software market is expected to grow significantly.

For example, MarketsandMarkets has predicted this sector will grow from $4.68 billion last year to $14.71 billion by 2020, which represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25.7 percent.
