Mill Point Capital, a midmarket private-equity firm focused on control-oriented investments in North America, is buying Kemp Technologies, the provider of load balancer and application delivery controller (ADC) offerings and services,

The Mill Point team employs an executive partner model and says it has extensive experience investing in transactions in the technology and business-services sectors. Kemp’s management team, including CEO Ray Downes, will continue to lead the company, building on its track record of growth and innovation.

The financial details of the acquisition weren’t disclosed. John Becker, Kemp’s chairman, will remain in his position with the company and partner with Mill Point going forward.

Downes tells Channel Partners the new investment and support from Mill Point will fuel his company’s next phase of revenue growth and “expand our addressable market with a combination of organic growth and M&A.” Kemp has more than 25,000 customers and 60,000 application deployments in 115 countries.

“This enables us to more aggressively sell and deliver our next-generation load balancing and application delivery solutions to more customers on a global basis,” he said.

Kemp is taking application delivery “to the next level” for businesses that are either all-in on cloud-hosted applications, starting to move their workloads to the cloud, or just considering a cloud migration of their apps, Downes said.

“Application experience, or AX, is at the heart of how these businesses thrive, and with this new capitalization, Kemp partners will continue to benefit from best-in-class load balancing and application-delivery solutions that help their customers ensure an always-on, always-secure AX,” he said.

The company operates globally with its headquarters in New York, and regional hubs in Limerick, Ireland; Munich; Singapore and Sao Paulo.

“The management team [is] excited about their input to our ongoing development efforts and future growth potential around the AX market,” Downes said. “Kemp has always been committed on providing world-class innovation and support. It is what has set us apart from the competition, and what has propelled this latest investment. Mill Point has invested in a strong leadership team, and as such, there will be no major changes required to our personnel or places of operations. Channel partnerships remain at our core to help more enterprises grow and improve their business through an always-on application experience fabric.”

“Kemp is one of the most respected names in application delivery, and is at the cutting edge of distributed computing network architecture,” said Craig Adler, an executive partner with Mill Point. “We believe Kemp is positioned for further success given its ever-growing suite of high performance load-balancer and ADC products and services, as well as its true platform ubiquity that supports enterprises of every size and workload requirement.”
