Absolute Software is acquiring NetMotion Software, the provider of connectivity and security solutions, for $340 million in cash.

Absolute said the combination will allow it to develop and offer a bigger SaaS platform. Furthermore, it will continue to invest in engineering and sales talent to support growth.

The transaction should close near the end of June, subject to applicable regulatory approvals.

NetMotion is a remote secure access platform. It combines security, visibility and policy management to provide a secure end-user experience.

NetMotion’s unified secure access service edge (SASE) platform combines a VPN, digital experience monitoring and zero-trust network access (ZTNA). It delivers secure network access in customer IT environments.

With NetMotion, Absolute will be more competitive in zero trust and ZTNA, two high-growth markets, with an endpoint-led offering. Moreover, it will be more relevant in mobility as customer needs evolve for a multidevice world.

NetMotion Acquisition Offers Enhanced Security Solutions

“We are excited about the enhanced security solutions we are positioned to deliver over time with this acquisition,” she said. “Both Absolute and NetMotion have broad partner ecosystems that we are deeply invested in. And we believe that providing them with an enhanced, competitively advantaged product portfolio will only strengthen their ability to help customers meet rapidly evolving security, visibility and resilience expectations.”

This transaction is a major step toward giving Absolute’s customers a more secure user experience, Wyatt said.

“Together with our partners, Absolute will have the ability to reach and serve even more organizations — helping us to expand our platform and capture opportunities for long-term growth,” she said.

Absolute believes combining the companies’ products will lead to long-term growth, Wyatt said. The acquisition brings together Absolute and NetMotion’s broad and complementary channel partnerships. Furthermore, it expands Absolute’s market reach significantly.

“One of the attractive parts of this combination was the shared view on the critical role our channel partners bring to our respective businesses,” she said. “We are deeply committed to our ongoing channel partnerships, and are excited to be able to deepen and expand those relationships as we focus on this new work-from-anywhere era.”

Compelling Opportunity

Christopher Kenessey is NetMotion’s CEO.

“This acquisition presents Absolute with a compelling opportunity that will help solve the issue of user-degraded experience while meeting new, and continuously evolving, expectations for resilience across both endpoints and network security,” he said. “Together, Absolute and NetMotion will empower IT and security teams with the visibility, control and advanced intelligence needed to deliver a seamless and secure digital user experience on any device or network, anywhere.”
