AMD Appoints John Caldwell as Chairman of the Board
Longtime AMD (AMD) board member John Caldwell has been named chairman of the board for the computing and graphics technology company, according to an announcement issued on Thursday.
Caldwell, who has served on the board of directors since 2006, will replace current Chairman Bruce Claflin, effective immediately.
“I am honored to be named chairman of AMD’s Board,” said Caldwell, in a statement. “It is an exciting time to be part of AMD as we execute on our transformative strategy – bringing innovative products to market and delivering increased value to our shareholders. On behalf of our Board of Directors, I would like to recognize Bruce Claflin for his leadership and for his continuing contribution to our company.”
Claflin has served as chairman of the board since 2009. He will continue to be an AMB board member, the company announced.
Caldwell is the former president and CEO of electronics manufacturing services company SMTC Corporation, and also served as the chair of the restructuring committee of the board of directors of The Mosaic Group. He has also held senior level positions in finance, and served as the president and CEO of both GEAC Computer Corp. and CAE Inc.
