Sophos Appoints New General Manager for Cloud

Security vendor Sophos is continuing to make strides with its cloud strategy. Following the launch of the Sophos Cloud business unit, the company has made a key executive hire to head up the new unit. Bill Lucchini has joined the company as Sophos Cloud general manager.

Based in Boston and reporting directly to Sophos CEO Kris Hagerman, Lucchini is a cloud veteran who most recently was the COO of OnForce, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the cloud-based technology talent marketplace company. Before that, Lucchini spent 17 years working at Intuit, where he held leadership roles in many of Intuit's SaaS offerings, including IntuitQuickBase, the Intuit Partner Platform and QuickBooks Online.

Sophos channel partners may be happy to know that Lucchini is also a channel veteran. While at Intuit, he led the Midmarket Division and launched the company's first VAR channel. With a history of cloud and channel program leadership, Lucchini could act as a cornerstone for the further development of Sophos' cloud strategy, particularly as it relates to the channel.

"Our customers and partners around the world are keenly interested in how Sophos is leveraging cloud-based technology to deliver complete security without complexity," Hagerman said in a prepared statement.

As Hagerman noted, Lucchini is experienced in driving cloud-focused product strategies. Combined with his knowledge of the SMB market and his experience working with channel partners, Lucchini should be a good fit at Sophos. He'll have a lot of work to do, but over the last couple of years, Sophos has been hiring key executives to drive its growth, including a brand new vice president of Channel Sales. So he should be in good company.

"Bringing Sophos' complete security portfolio to the cloud promises to be a strategic differentiator for the company, and will dramatically simplify the delivery and administration of IT security for time-strapped enterprises and MSPs," said Lucchini in a prepared statement.
