RightScale has launched a new self-service portal to assist developers and other cloud users with gaining access to cloud infrastructure.

The Santa Barbara, California-based cloud porfolio management provider on Wednesday said RightScale Self-Service allows IT administrators to become somewhat like cloud brokers by enabling them to provide developers and users with curated and governed access to cloud services.

With RightScale Self-Service, IT administrators are able to define a catalog for users that provides users with ways to automatically provision instances, stacks or multi-tier applications.

Through the portal, which is integrated with RightScale Cloud Management, users can also manage cloud applications, track costs and set automated shutdown schedules through an easy-to-use interface.

RightScale Marketing Vice President Kim Weins told Talkin’ Cloud that the company’s portfolio has been “used to deploy, migrate and manage thousands of cloud applications.”

“RightScale Self-Service is a happy marriage between the automated self-service benefits of cloud and the governance requirements of large organizations,” she said.

Weins said RightScale works with consultants, systems integrators (SIs) and managed services providers (MSPs) involved in cloud adoption at the enterprise level.

“RightScale Self-Service helps these channel partners and the enterprises they serve to become cloud service brokers — which is good for enterprises and good for channel partners,” she said.

“Our leading-edge solutions combined with seven years of cloud experience combine to give channel partners a big advantage,” Weins said. “Our solutions continue to evolve at a rapid rate and set new standards and expectations for cloud management solutions.”
