IndependenceIT Integrates Cloud Workspace Suite with AWS

IndependenceIT is once again expanding its desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) offering. This time, the DaaS specialist has launched its Cloud Workspace Suite on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Aimed at enterprises and service providers, Cloud Workspace Suite was designed as a hypervisor and cloud platform agnostic DaaS solution. The launch of the virtual desktop service on Amazon Web Services should increase its reach significantly—more so than some of its other recent launches, which include releases on Google Compute Engine and Arrow Electronics’ ArrowSphere.

That’s not to downplay the importance of launching on Google’s cloud platform and on the cloud services platform being offered by a major distributor, but there is something to be said for the importance of launching your platform-agnostic cloud service on the public cloud that’s leading the market.

A few of the key capabilities of Cloud Workspace Suite on Amazon Web Services include:

  • Cloud workspace delivery that includes desktops, applications, back office systems and directory/user management.

  • The ability to run large-scale workloads on scalable, secure and reliable virtual machines hosted on AWS across multiple locations that are accessed through a single interface.

  • A desktop experience designed for performance and responsiveness.

  • Mobile clients for distributed workforce environments and bring-your-own-device.

  • A single pane of glass for systems/user management and fully-automated provisioning.

  • User and file audit tracking to support compliance software-as-a-service (SaaS) enablement.

  • White-label capabilities for service providers.

“Amazon Web Services offers comprehensive computing, application, and deployment services that help organizations speed IT, lower costs, and scale applications,” said Seth Bostock, CEO of IndependenceIT, in a prepared statement. “Combined with IndependenceIT CWS, the integration with AWS helps organizations support user mobility and embrace BYOD as a corporate strategy to increase productivity. These benefits are compounded by the enormous savings in time and resources provided to users at every level, from the service provider to the end customer.”
