Asigra Cloud Backup Now Supports Docker Containers. Asigra is now officially supporting the Docker open-source platform. The Toronto-based cloud backup and recovery services company on Wednesday announced it has integrated Docker-based application backup and recovery into its Cloud Backup software.

IBM Opens First Cloud Data Center With SoftLayer in Germany. IBM on Wednesday announced the opening of a cloud data center with SoftLayer in Germany — a first for Big Blue. The new facility, located in Frankfurt, is designed to enable customers to meet German and European data security and sovereignty laws.

Alert Logic Buys Security Analytics Platform Provider Critical Watch for Undisclosed Amount. Alert Logic has acquired Dallas-based security analytics and vulnerability management platform provider Critical Watch. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Current Analysis: Enterprises Favoring Private Over Public Cloud. Public cloud may get the most attention, but it’s private clouds that companies are turning to for their cloud services and applications needs. According to a poll conducted by Current Analysis, 58 percent of the respondents that indicated their organizations use cloud services have based those services on private cloud infrastructure.

How to Handle Sales Objections, Part 3. There are plenty of polite ways to tell a sales representative to get lost. Being Canadian, I have heard all of them. Most often the “send me something” objection is an easy way for a prospect who really doesn’t want to be rude to get off the phone. However, that’s just one of three reasons a prospect would request more information from you.
