GridIron Systems Launches Big Data Accelerator OneAppliance
Big Data firm GridIron Systems has launched OneAppliance, a product suite designed for accelerating Big Data analysis, based on systems matching the workload characteristics of Big Data to multilevel cell Flash.
OneAppliance enables customers to employ a single infrastructure while combining structured and unstructured data for Big Data processing. GridIron claims OneAppliance provides up to 20 times the bandwidth of the latest Flash solutions and reduces space and power consumption by up to 60 percent, while lowering the cost of Big Data infrastructure.
GridIron’s new FlashCube, iNode and RackPack rack-mounted systems are part of the OneAppliance product suite designed for Big Data analytics. FlashCube is the “first ultra-high bandwidth unified data store for the aggregate read and write performance demands of Storage Area Network-based clustered applications,” and is meant for use in Oracle Automatic Storage Management environments.
iNode combines high-performance compute with high-bandwidth Flash data store to offer the first all-Flash Big Data appliance, according to GridIron. iNode is designed for data marts, data warehouses, online analytical processing and enterprise resource planning applications.
GridIron’s OneAppliance RackPack is designed for data-processing needs beyond 100TB and into the demanding Big Data level reaching to Petabytes. A RackPack can have up to 40 Intel Sandy Bridge servers and up to 250TB of Flash, and can operate a Hadoop cluster, a 32-node Oracle RAC or a combination of Hadoop/Hbase/SQL Relational Database Management System.
