CloudByte this week rolled out a new release of its storage software to enhance end user visibility into storage metrics and the ability to view the real-time status of the CloudByte environments for cloud services providers (CSPs).

ElastiStor 1.3 updates aim to assist CSPs with addressing customer needs and expanding their footprint within existing customer environments. Additionally, the enhancements will provide CSPs with customer visibility into the resources needed to handle business-critical workloads, the company said.

CloudByte founder Felix Xavier told Talkin' Cloud the "channel will have an edge over other products out there in the market" with this update.

"The level of analytics along with storage at this price point is definitely a winning combination for the channel," he said.

"For most of the customers, storage is black box," he said, adding, "They don’t know how to deal with issues such as, 'Storage was performing well two weeks back, but today it is extremely slow.'"

To tackle these challenges, CloudByte focuses on the data patterns coming from application. Any change in patterns can result in slower performance, he said.

"We are working with CSPs to help their customers guarantee storage performance for applications running in the same data center, and will expand this performance guarantee across data centers around the world," Xavier said.

The new release integrates with virtualization vendors and cloud stack environments, and expands certification of more hardware platforms.
