Backup My Info! Launches Cloud Disaster Recovery Solution

Backup My Info! (BUMI), provider of managed cloud security offerings, has announced the launch of BUMI Cloud Recovery (BCR), a full-fledged disaster recovery offering for SMBs that can’t deal with downtime.

After a system failure, BCR enables users to “restore their servers into BUMI’s secure virtual environment within a short period of time,” according to the press release. The solution leverages BUMI’s existing agentless tools to take bare-metal backups of the customer servers, which then can be restored as virtual servers in BUMI’s Toronto data center. The network then can be accessed anywhere there’s an Internet connection.

“This is a great option for organizations that don’t want to invest in a replication solution in addition to their file backups. This is an efficient recovery method for companies that cannot afford to be down for 24 hours,” said Jennifer Walzer, CEO of BUMI, in the press release.

As per the BUMI Cloud Recovery product page, BUMI also provides services to help the customer fall back onto their backup. Intriguingly, prices weren’t mentioned anywhere I could see, which makes me think that BUMI quotes based on the size and complexity of the job.

It’s a potentially strong complement to BUMI’s more traditional cloud backup offerings, and could be an important value-add for BUMI’s partner base. We’ll keep watching Backup My Info!, so stay tuned to TalkinCloud.
