Amazon Web Services Available Via Ingram Micro Cloud

Ingram Micro Renee Bergeron

Ingram Micro today unveiled cloud services relationships with Amazon Web Services, IBM Managed Security Services, Intel AppUp, VMware and several other companies. Paul Bay (executive VP, Ingram Micro North America) and Renee Bergeron (pictured, VP of managed services and cloud services at Ingram) shared the news at Ingram Micro Cloud Summit.

These latest Ingram moves seek to position Ingram Micro Cloud as a standard platform for VARs and MSPs to source and manage cloud services for customers. Here are minute-by-minute details…

Paul Bay announced cloud services partnerships with…

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), making Ingram a distributor for AWS.

  • Live Virtual Help Desk, offering help desk services to VARs and MSPs.

  • Veeam, which provides virtualization backup and protection services for VMware installs.

  • CA AppLogic, a software platform that allows partners to rapidly roll out cloud services. Ingram already has similar partnerships in place with CA ARCserve and CA’s Nimsoft managed services software platform.

Bergeron offered updates about the cloud services market. She noted…

  • 98 percent of SMB cloud sales are direct to the end customer, according to Gartner.

  • But as the SMB selects more cloud services, they need someone to help and coordinate those services. That’s why channel partners will gain opportunity, Bergeron stated.

  • Roughly 20 percent of the market will go through a cloud broker — that’s VARs, MSPs and cloud consultants — within two years, Gartner predicted.

  • Bergeron assured partners that Ingram is conducting due diligence on all cloud services offered on the Ingram Micro Cloud.

  • More than 3,500 resellers leverage IngramMicroCloud.com for educational resources.

  • Bergeron described how the Ingram Micro Cloud portal has evolved into a cloud aggregator service that allows VARs, MSPs and cloud brokers to browse cloud solutions, place orders, provision cloud solutions, managed cloud services and bill end-customers.

  • Unified communications and hosted PBX services seem poised for more cloud services growth, based on Bergeron’s thoughts.

Paul Bay announced additional cloud services partnerships with…

  • ConnectWise, LabTech and Quosal for IT service provider business management, remote monitoring and management, and sales proposal and quoting software.

  • CloudWorks, provider of desktop virtualization (double-checking URL; if you beat me to it please post a comment).

  • dinCloud, desktop virtualization.

  • Separately, Bay announced a managed print services initiative for VARs and MSPs.

  • IBM Managed Security Services

  • DocVerify eSignature technologies

  • VMware horizon application manager

  • Intel AppUp small business cloud solutions

Bergeron is back onstage describing cloud customer trends…

  • 74 percent of cloud customers come from a VAR’s existing customer base

  • 26 percent are net new customers.

Keith Bradley, senior executive VP and president, North America

  • Bradley told attendees that it’s time to stop thinking of Ingram as a distributor. He also described Ingram Micro’s  three core areas of focus, and Bradley went off script with a key message for U.S. employers.
