Salesforce.com (CRM) has launched a new Salesforce Partner Program for Consulting Partners that is built exclusively for the cloud.

The San Francisco-based customer relationship management software company said its new Salesforce Partner Program offers resources, training and tools that are designed to help its consulting partners better serve their customers.

“While Salesforce has had a partner program for many years, our consulting partners in particular have been vocal about their desire for more enablement tools, more marketing and technical support and ways we can make it easier for them to do business with us. At the same time, customers have asked for more insight into partner capabilities and expertise, so as to match them with a firm that best meets their needs,” Tyler Prince, Salesforce’s executive vice president for worldwide alliances and channels, wrote in a blog post.

Prince said the new Salesforce Partner Program features:

  • Updated partner tiering structure — The program now uses a model that rates consulting partners by Partner Value Score (PVS), which is based on total Salesforce bookings, expertise and customer feedback. Partners are then tiered at Platinum, Gold, Silver and Registered levels.

  • Increased partner program investment — Salesforce is investing in its partner program, and now, consulting partners can access additional development tools, training programs, marketing tools, developer support packs and an online Partner Community to work with other Salesforce partners.

  • Country-specific program targets — A partner’s PVS will be evaluated on 12- or 18-month intervals based on program start date and country-specific targets, including sourced, co-sell and year-over-year sourced growth; Developer, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Technical Architect certifications; competency in emerging products and the Salesforce FullForce initiative and customer success as measured by customer satisfaction scores and customer story submissions.

  • Annual program fees — Consulting partners will be charged an annual membership fee; program fees start at $1,000 annually for partners at the Registered level (the first tier in the program).

The Salesforce Partner Program enhancements will take effect April 1, according to Prince.

Also, existing partners have until April 30 to submit a payment for their highest-eligible tier level.
