Distribution Watch: Avnet, ScanSource, Parts Now

Avnet: Avnet Embedded, a division of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas (NYSE: AVT) , added IEI Technology USA to its Brilliant Digital Signage program product offering. Avnet Embedded will be IEI’s sole distributor in the Americas and will carry IEI’s broad single-board computer (SBC) and industrial panel products.

According to the news release announcing the deal, IEI technology is suitable for end applications in medical, telecom, mobile computing, digital signage and in-vehicle info-tainment (which may be a bit of a stretch for most VARs). IEI’s SBCs include ETX, COM Express and Qseven CPU modules, each powered by Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3/5/7, Celeron and ARM processors. IEI’s industrial panel lineup includes touch screens and workstation and rack-console solutions.

ScanSource: The distributor of specialty technology products (NASDAQ: SCSC) announced it plans to release its third-quarter fiscal year 2012 results at 4 p.m. Eastern on April 26, 2012, at 4 p.m. Eastern. And for those interested in hearing how the company is doing, ScanSource management will host an earnings conference call to discuss these results later that day at 5 p.m. Eastern.

If you’re wondering, for its second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2011, ScanSource met expectations on revenue and beat expectations on earnings per share, registering revenue of $782.7 million. Its earnings per share was 77 cents.

Parts Now: The copier parts distributor has added Densi‘s “compatible copier parts and supplies” to its lineup of digital imaging and copier goods.

According to the company, Parts Now has nearly 20,000 digital imaging parts and supplies on hand in three distribution centers across the United States. The company also offers printer repair technical support and laser printer repair training.
