Windstream Cutting Up to 400 Management Jobs

Windstream Corp. on Thursday revealed plans to cut about 3 percent of its workforce as part of a restructuring that will result in fewer management positions.

The Little Rock, Ark.-based carrier will nix 375-400 management positions under a move the company expects to yield $30-$40 million in annual savings.

Windstream, whose workforce totals 14,500 employees, anticipates the restructuring will be complete in the third quarter.

"Windstream has grown rapidly through acquisition, and it is crucial that our management structure be as simple and as responsive to customers are possible as we continue to build this company for long-term success,’ Windstream president and CEO Jeff Gardner said.

Windstream said it will provide impacted employees severance benefits and outplacement assistance.
