VoSKY Debuts SMB PBX-to-Skype Gateway

By Charlene O'Hanlon

VoSKY has made its mark in the enterprise space as a cost-effective alternative to PSTN calls. Now the company’s newest communications gateway, the VoSKY SSG, has earned the distinction of being the first certified as interoperable with Skype for SIP.

The VoSKY SSG, aimed at the SMB space, connects legacy PBX systems to Skype, saving users money on their business communications costs by routing long distance calls over the Internet. The SIP interoperability allows for seamless integration with both PBX and key systems, connecting via a conventional analog port.

VoSKY is available in a four-channel version, which supports four concurrent Skype-for-SIP calls, and an eight-channel version, supporting eight concurrent Skype-for-SIP calls. Both allow users to add a click-to-call button on their Web site, enabling potential customers to contact the company for free via Skype. The inbound call is routed through the company’s legacy PBX system to the intended recipient.

“As the industry’s first certified Skype-for-SIP gateway for PBXs, the VoSKY SSG gives businesses reliable, plug-and-play access to all the features made possible by Skype for SIP,” said David Tang, vice president of global marketing for VoSKY. “The new gateway is a great solution for SMBs, which do not have IP PBXs and have not traditionally been able to take advantage of the cost benefits of Skype for SIP. The VoSKY SSG gives them a cost-effective method of using Skype for SIP with any type of telephone system.”

The SSG is the latest in a line of VoSKY offerings that allow companies to take advantage of the cost benefits of using Skype. Its flagship line, the Exchange Pro Series, includes servers and appliances designed to handle the heavier communications traffic produced by enterprise companies.

VoSKY, headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., launched a channel program in 2008 and has more than 600 partners worldwide.
