Video collaboration vendor ViVu has integrated its technology with Microsoft Office Communicator, giving users a richer videoconferencing experience.

ViVus offerings VuRoom, videoconferencing for up to eight users, and VuCast, designed for large-scale high quality video events currently sit on top of Skype to enable Web-based communications. With the addition of Microsoft Office Communicator, ViVu can be used internally by MOC users, who also can connect externally via a Web browser. VuRoom integrates seamlessly with the Microsoft Office client and does not require proprietary hardware, according to the company.

VuRoom for Office Communicator offers users benefits that MOCs existing video client doesnt, including the ability to see all the parties on a video call. Currently, Office Communicator only displays the person speaking, but VuRoom enables true multiparty conferencing, allowing users to see all the people on the call at all times.

VuRoom also features HD-quality videoconferencing, supporting a wide range of webcams. The current version of MOC supports only standard-definition webcams.

Additionally, the technology offers faster desktop sharing with more vibrant colors and animated slide sharing, the company noted.

Finally, VuRoom for Office Communicator enables videoconferencing with people not using Microsoft Office Communicator. Unlike the current version of MOC, which only works with other users of the platform, VuRoom for Office Communicator facilitates off-platform collaboration via a Web link.

VuRoom for Office Communicator is available as both an on-premise or SaaS solution. ViVu offers white-labeling and custom-branding, so companies can customize the technology with their company logo, background or custom user interface. The companys Web services API enables partners to integrate the technology into their applications.
