Masergy’s Jim Glackin

Jim Glackin is now senior vice president of global channel for the Texas-based company. He will oversee Masergy’s channel go-to-market efforts and lead its partner relationships.

“Today’s announcement is not about me personally as much as it is about putting the right focus, resources and priorities in place to foster an environment of shared success,” Glackin wrote in a blog.

Glackin declared that Masergy plans to invest more into indirect sales. The company will increase partner resources, which include training and “opportunities needed to create win-win situations.”

The new Masergy channel chief emphasized the need to help partners grow their brands.

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in June.

“As a channel program, my team and I need to add value,” Glackin said. “I see most channel programs as reactive, ready and willing to jump in on opportunities, but not actively working to help partners generate new opportunities. This approach doesn’t work.”

Glackin’s team will also pursue new channels and deepen existing alliances, according to Glackin’s blog.

Deep Channel Sales Experience

Glackin comes to Masergy from CenturyLink, where he most recently was vice president of strategic partners. He worked at Qwest/CenturyLink for 16 years after wrapping a 10-year stint at AT&T.

Glackin cited glowing partner feedback as a reason he joined Masergy. Moreover, he praised the company’s technology and consumption model.

“If you look at what’s going on in the cloud and telecom sector and with technology in general, you’ll see that enterprises are moving away from anything that distracts from their core business,” he said. “If it doesn’t help them build better products, build competitive advantage or better serve their customers, they don’t want to own it, run it, or manage it.”

William Madison, Masergy’s former vice president of global channel development, left the company in January and joined Avaya.
