Rob Rae

Some sources are reporting that channel MVP Rob Rae has officially left his position at Kaseya. Confirming this information is Rae’s LinkedIn page, which indicates that his nine years at Datto, where he was senior vice president of business development, ended in October.

Speculation about Rae’s plans after Kaseya acquired Datto began to swirl in March, months before the before the $6.2 billion acquisition was completed in June. Then, as now, the industry veteran did not comment on what direction he would take. However, Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola stated that Rae would stay with the company following the acqusition.

Rae is a well-known and respected industry veteran, and a charismatic channel leader. He is a familiar face at industry events — Datto’s and others’. In the world of IT hardware and software sales, Rae helped Datto become one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic companies in the industry, and helped grow its people into highly successful players in their own right. This is most certainly a heavy blow for Kaseya.

Rae has frequently been a speaker at Channel Partners events. In addition, he has been named a Channel Futures Channel Influencer (2018, 2022), a Channel Futures Circle of Excellence member (2015, 2018) and a member of the Top Gun 51 (2018, 2020).

Channel Futures reached out to Rae for comment, but the man of mystery did not reveal his next move.

For now…
