CenturyLink's Mahesh DalviCenturyLink’s Global IT Services is delivering a fully managed big-data offering powered by Cloudera Enterprise. Mahesh Dalvi, CenturyLink’s vice president for technology architecture, tells Channel Partners that the two companies are working together to deliver the offering to help partners and customers “reap benefits by leveraging the power of cloud-based big data as a service.”

“This combined big-data offering will simplify some of the management complexities from Hadoop operations,” he said. “Customers will be able to deploy the managed service on AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform or any other hyperscale cloud environment. The big data-as-a-service offering will exponentially speed time to deploy Cloudera Enterprise. This will enable Cloudera and CenturyLink (partners and customers) to spend more time working with data and generating new insights that drive business.”

By using Cloudera Enterprise, CenturyLink will gain a more complete view of its customers across all of its systems, products and interaction channels. The telco will use the Cloudera platform to perform advanced analytics for software-defined networks (SDN) and network virtualization to monitor and further optimize its global communications network.{ad}

And that’s where true business transformation happens.”

CenturyLink’s big data-as-a-service offerings are under development and expected to be generally available later this year. Cloudera managed services by CenturyLink are generally available today.
