IT security professionals should take a moment to celebrate their successes this morning. Penton Media and SolarWinds, the Austin-based IT management software provider, today released the findings of a new IT security preparedness survey that shows we’ve all come a long way, baby. “The most surprising finding of the survey is just how many organizations are less vulnerable today than they were a year ago, and, on a related note, how many have implemented security technologies and better security training,” said Mav Turner, director, business strategy, SolarWinds. “The survey data seems to reflect a shifting focus from fear of cyberattack, to the implementation, maintenance and refinement of established and effective security systems,” said Dr. Kristin Letourneau, director of research at Penton. SolarWinds on Thursday announced its MSP Institute, an online learning portal designed to provide training through business, sales, marketing and technical courses, has made significant strides in helping to develop and drive customer success.

The learning portal within the SolarWinds Customer Success Center is designed to give SolarWinds partners access to a variety of courses that consist of two main categories — business training and technical training. The business training track has courses on sales and marketing that are meant to coach users in the management and growth of their business, and the technical training track provides courses meant to help expand new and existing partners’ knowledge of the SolarWinds MSP product suite.

Since its launch in February, SolarWinds has introduced 120 courses through the MSP Institute. To date, more than 38,000 sessions have been completed. Popular courses include advice on what your services portfolio should include and how to price it properly, which levers you can pull to help maximize your margins, building your sales process, and how to sell backup more easily.

“I love the old adage, “never stop learning,”” said Mike Cullen, vice president of customer experience and business strategy, SolarWinds MSP. “Successful MSPs get this. SolarWinds’ reason for creating the MSP Institute and all we do to foster customer success is aimed at the idea that you have to work ‘on’ your business, not just ‘in’ your business. Our aim is to give them the training, educational tools and benchmarks they need in order to succeed.”

SolarWinds MSP has also created the MSP Institute Webinar Series, that includes topics such as advice on how to build and manage a successful sales team, best practices for operational success, and tips on how to manage customer relationships. The webinar series learning opportunities are available to any MSP.

The MSP Institute is available for SolarWinds partners through the SolarWinds MSP Success Center. The MSP Institute Webinar Series can be found here.
