ADTRAN ProCloud Aims to Help VARs Become MSPs

ADTRAN (ADTN) is helping its resellers become managed services providers (MSPs) through a new managed Wi-Fi offering.

ProCloud, ADTRAN’s managed Wi-Fi platform, is billed as a way for VARs to transition to managed service providers by utilizing the company’s turnkey model. ProCloud includes turnkey services and partner branding options, making it easy to integrate into resellers’ existing business models, according to ADTRAN.

The platform features a managed Wi-Fi model that allows customers to transition from capex to opex, similar to the billing cycles in other monthly as-a-service offerings. ProCloud is built on ADTRAN’s virtual wireless LAN and features fully redundant infrastructure, according to the company.

Valley Business Solutions (VBS) is one of the first companies to begin utilizing the ProCloud platform to expand into an MSP. The Huntsville, Alabama-based IT service provider utilizes ProCloud to generate monthly revenue for its accounts while helping customers to transition away from up-front costs, according to the company.

“ADTRAN’s introduction of ProCloud Wi-Fi got us thinking differently about our business and who our customers could be. It created a real opportunity as this offering is applicable to any company, of any size,” said Alex Dizon, general manager at Valley Business Solutions, in a statement. “Now, managed Wi-Fi is the fastest-growing segment of our business. We can now address more types and sizes of businesses while expanding our customer base into new geographical territories.”

ADTRAN noted ProCloud has seen a recent jump in popularity this year, with ProCloud services growth nearly doubling quarter over quarter in 2014.

“ProCloud Wi-Fi streamlines wireless network operations and enables VBS and their customers to focus on other activities that are critical to their business,” said Todd Lattanzi, director of product management at ADTRAN. “The managed service program allows resellers to layer and align services with customers’ specific needs, create more valuable service contracts and expand revenue opportunities.”
