Virtual Bridges Launches Self-Deploying Virtual Appliance

Virtual Bridges is providing organizations with an easy way to deploy and manage virtual workloads with Bridgepoint, a new cloud orchestration system for public, private and hybrid clouds. Bridgepoint allows organizations to quickly build a desktop virtualization infrastructure in any cloud environment, leveraging their existing investments in server virtualization infrastructure for both OpenStack and VMware (VMW).

According to the company, the platform-agnostic solution eliminates vendor lock-in and gives IT organizations more choice and flexibility in their deployment of virtual workloads. Users can migrate their desktop workloads between OpenStack and VMware as needed, with support for additional cloud environments coming soon.

Bridgepoint is deployed as a single downloadable virtual appliance and can be operational within 15 minutes, according to Virtual Bridges. The new solution features a management interface that allows enterprise architects and operations teams to configure cloud desktop orchestration inline with their enterprise-specific cloud and virtual workload needs, as well as a cloud orchestration engine. Bridgepoint’s chargeback and reporting functionality enables admins to track and display desktop activity and more for chargeback and showback scenarios as well.

The platform also features smart brokering, which serves as the central communications hub for cloud tenants to interpret differences in protocols and access methods for efficiently routing traffic. Users can monitor and track cloud APIs, computer nodes, networks and more for all end-user devices, and manage and optimize storage consumption and allocation across cloud resources to reduce the total cost of ownership, according to the company. And last but certainly not least, Bridgepoint supports both Windows and Linux virtual desktops.
