The new VMware Pivotal Container Service (PKS) Solution Competency allows partners to extend their infrastructure modernization practices with new Kubernetes-based solutions and revenue streams.

VMware PKS, co-developed by VMware and Pivotal, is a turnkey offering for enterprises and service providers to provision, operate and manage production-grade Kubernetes clusters.

Teri Bruns, VMware‘s vice president of global partner solutions, tells us the two companies jointly engaged in a pilot program, investing in a number of capable partners to assist in direct efforts to establish a route to market for VMware PKS.

“The new competency trains partners to identify and unlock container opportunities more effectively,” she said. “It enables partners to advance their customer relationships as strategic advisers to help enterprises run modern applications from the infrastructure to the developer layer.”

With PKS, organizations can realize a fully supported, production-grade Kubernetes-based container platform, with integration with VMware’s NSX-T network virtualization for networking and security that is globally supported on vSphere as well as all leading public clouds, VMware said.

Partners who have obtained the VMware PKS Solution Competency will be able to: resell VMware PKS; extend service delivery offerings by building practices around helping customers package and deploy existing applications leveraging Kubernetes containers through VMware PKS; and open up cross-selling opportunities with a broader portfolio of VMware offerings.

“The VMware PKS Competency offers AdvizeX a great way to become rapidly enabled by VMware experts to design, deploy, configure and manage the PKS platform,” said Chris Miller, Rolta AdvizeX’s vice president of solution presales. “The competency is a great addition to our service offerings focused on application transformation and helping our customers build a multicloud strategy by providing AdvizeX engineers with the tools they need to help drive positive business outcomes. We feel that with our strong expertise in designing and delivering NSX solutions, we are positioned to help provide a quality, integrated approach for our customers and continue to position AdvizeX as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.”
