where-are-youThe VAR Guy was beginning to think Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) has bet the big red on Exadata, Exalogic and Exalytics engineered systems for channel partners to master and promote. But here’s a healthy reminder that Oracle’s software focus remains intact: The company is set to announce specialization for database partners that want to focus on location-based applications.
The new specialization, set to launch later this month, will be called the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) Specialization for Oracle Spatial. Oracle Spatial, by the way, is an option for Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition. Oracle says the add-on supports geospatial applications, location-based services, and enterprise spatial information systems.
Hmmm… How can partners profit from geospatial applications? Perhaps the answer will surface at the Location Intelligence and Oracle Spatial User Conference 2012 later this month. (Ironically, The VAR Guy has no idea where the conference will be held, and he didn’t have the time to Google or, um, Bing the info.
Meanwhile, Oracle is making some Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics moves in the midmarket. New announcements include the Oracle Business Accelerators for Oracle BI Applications. The accelerators allow Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne customers to gain insights from their ERP data.
The tools are available through the Oracle Accelerate program, Oracle’s partner-driven approach to helping midsize companies benefit from Oracle Applications, according to an Oracle spokeswoman.
