IT security vendor Sophos has introduced a new hourly billing model for Sophos UTM, the company’s unified threat management solution (UTM), through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace.  The goal is to provide small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with a complete network security protection solution and an alternative pricing model.

Sophos said customers are now able to leverage many scaling, redundancy, and elasticity features offered by AWS through this new hourly-based model, providing customers with the capabilities to defend cloud resources with a solution optimized for the AWS environment.

Sophos Senior Product Manager Angelo Comazzetto said in his prepared remarks that Sophos AWS provides many benefits for SMBs that have adopted cloud.

“We pride ourselves on developing complete security offerings that are simple to use, and with this offering, companies can better defend their cloud security resources with layers of security provided by Sophos UTM,” he said. “We are excited to enable this unique offering in the AWS Marketplace.”

Sophos UTM was previously only available on AWS through a bring your own license (BYOL) model.

IT security vendor Sophos recently rolled out a new version of its mobile device management (MDM) platform, Sophos Mobile Control, which adds support for Microsoft (MSFT) Windows Phone 8 and improves reporting capabilities for managed services providers (MSPs) and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) administrators.
