Lucent Upgrades Software Versions

Lucent Technologies at TeleManagement World debuted enhanced versions of its VitalQIP IP Address Management software and VitalSuite Performance Management software.

The VitalQIP 7.0 IP Address Management software includes a new user interface for enhanced productivity; new features that improve IP address management business processes; and support for IPv4 and IPv6 with new security and configuration capabilities.

“The new releases of VitalQIP and VitalSuite will help service providers, government and enterprise customers optimize their business and services management in current and emerging IPv6 networks,” said Ashok Shah, vice president of professional services for Lucent Worldwide Services. “The new releases support the management of multivendor, multitechnology networks, and are targeted at network operators, enterprise and government customers who can’t tolerate application and network downtime and need one single consolidated view of their network and application infrastructure.”

Lucent’s VitalSuite Performance Management 10.0, meanwhile, integrates three application and network management software modules that allow service provider and enterprise customers to apply a unified network management architecture across multivendor deployments. It offers network operators views of application and Web services transactions, network resources and overall service quality compliance.

The new version further contains performance management features to integrate multilevel domains; additional technology support for IMS, WiMAX and Ethernet; client-usage accounting; and service indicator group scoring for improved end-user quality characterization. The software uses session analytics tools to increase services completion and associated billed revenue across voice, VoIP, content, mobile, messaging, and IMS technologies and services.

Lucent also said on Tuesday it is working with Winncom Technologies to install a multivendor OSS into the network operators center the companies are building for KazakhTelecom, Kazakhstans national carrier.

The new OSS will help KazakhTelecom operate more efficiently and better manage new IP-based services the operator plans to introduce.
