Boundary, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud application monitoring platform provider, today secured $22 million in C-round funding, bringing its total funding to date to $41 million. Adams Street Partners, Triangle Peak Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Scale Venture Partners provided the funds for Boundary to expand its IT infrastructure monitoring solutions.

“New applications and infrastructures require new monitoring solutions – ones that can embrace the cadence of continuous deployment and elasticity while dealing with the complexity of highly distributed architectures,” Boundary CEO Gary Read said in a press release. “Boundary is a new breed of application-aware infrastructure monitoring solution where the key emphasis is how the infrastructure affects the application performance.”

Boundary was designed for modern application infrastructures and operates as a public or private SaaS-delivered service. In addition, Boundary processes data, along with application or infrastructure changes, in real-time.

“We were impressed by how quickly Boundary was up and running for their customers. Often in minutes, they were handling massive amounts of customer data. Their customers consistently commented on how Boundary’s real-time visibility and alerting was critical, which allowed them to speed up identification times and often avoid issues and outages,” Dain DeGroff, co-founding Partner of Triangle Peak Partners, said in a press release.

Read told MSPmentor in August 2012 that he wanted to revolutionize SaaS and cloud application monitoring. (You may remember him as the person who founded, built and eventually sold Nimsoft to CA Technologies (CA) in March 2010.) Today, Boundary processes up to 2 trillion metrics daily for more than 600 clients, including Expedia, Rackspace (RAX) and Salesforce.com (CRM).

Boundary shows no signs of slowing down, either. It released a new User Interface and several product upgrades in February in what could be the first of many steps to bolster its IT infrastructure monitoring solutions.

“The IT Operations Management market is an estimated $20 billion industry dominated by legacy solutions, and like the disruption we are seeing in many other spaces, Boundary is leading the charge,” Mike Zappert, Principal at Adams Street Partners, said in the press release that announced the funding. “The Boundary technology, combined with the amazing, proven team, will lead infrastructure monitoring into the modern era.”
