Aerohive Acquires Pareto Networks For Cloud-Based Network Management

Aerohive Networks, which specializes in cloud-delivered wireless LAN management, has acquired Pareto Networks, developers of cloud-based networking solutions. Effective immediately, Pareto’s routing, VPN, and cloud solutions will be integrated into the Aerohive HiveOS operating system and HiveManager Online cloud services platform, with new features being offered to service providers in Q2 2011.

In its former life, Pareto specialized in secure network access over 3G/4G, cloud provisioning, CloudProxy N-way proxy functionality, and other networking solutions, according to the press release. And Pareto has patents pending on “network-as-a-service”  and the CloudProxy solution. All of that is now under Aerohive’s ownership now.

And while that same press release affirms that Aerohive already has a robust set of network solutions in place, new features are en route later this year. Pareto technology will power Aerohive platforms in VMware cloud VPN gateways, 3G/4G backup via HiveOS, simple cloud end user provisioning, and router/VPN management in the cloud, among others.

Aerohive says they see this acquisition as propelling them instantly to leadership  in the broader cloud-based networking space. And while financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, TalkinCloud is under the impression that all of Pareto’s employees will be going with the technology they helped develop to Aerohive’s management.
