As business leaders evolve remote work policies through the next “new normal” phase of the COVID-19, IT leaders are making key networking and cloud investments to maintain long-term business continuity and remote work life.

World Wide Technology (WWT), the $12 billion solution provider, is working with enterprises large and small to advance software, wireless and network technologies for this next phase and can share insights on what companies need to be doing behind the scenes to keep their businesses running successfully during COVID-19. 

Trends related to an increased demand for SD-WAN and shifts in multicloud strategy as a result of COVID-19.

According to Neil Anderson, senior director, network solutions at WWT, SD-WAN can play a role in working from home to optimize user experience and remotely accessing applications.

“We also see organizations examining their multicloud strategies – particularly understanding where their users are working and where applications are hosted they are using,” said Anderson. “We see shifts occurring to leverage cloud delivered applications significantly more – as it makes it much easier for IT to shift users from work locations to remote working locations.”

Insights on what companies need to be doing behind the scenes to keep their business running successfully during COVID-19:

The most successful organizations right now are those that have the flexibility to quickly pivot business models to contact-free models, WWT notes. Those that are investing in cloud, digital transformation and mobile are having the most success.

The first phase of business continuity was to make anything work, much of which was already on-hand or could be quickly acquired. Now the company sees organizations stepping back to consider more permanent solutions that have better user experience and security.

“We would recommend looking at cloud-delivered models – applications, collaboration, and security.” said Anderson. “These models offer the best business agility that can operate independently of location and scaled up quickly when needed.”
