HP on Tuesday unveiled the latest additions to its health-care device portfolio. They include the HP EliteBook 840 G6 Healthcare Edition and the EliteOne 800 G5 Healthcare Edition All-in-One.

The company made the announcement at the HIMSS & Health 2.0 Europe Conference in Helsinki.

“Today’s health care providers need products that protect patients and their data, streamline workflows and facilitate collaboration across the care continuum, to deliver effective patient-centered health care,” said Reid Oakes, global head of Health Industries at HP. “Our newest editions to the HP Healthcare portfolio exemplify why HP is leading the way in creating safe, smart and secure devices for today’s health care providers.”

At HIMSS18 in March 2018, HP unveiled a lineup of devices specifically designed to address the next generation of patient care — namely, the HP EliteBook 840 G5 Healthcare Edition notebook, the EliteOne 800 G4 23.8 Healthcare Edition All-in-One, and the Healthcare Edition HC270cr Clinical Review Display.

Now come updated health care devices that include simplified authentication with an optional integrated RFID badge reader and biometrics designed to speed up access for health-care associates who log in and out of devices and applications all day long. Additionally, the touch screens on these devices are optimized for touch through nitrile, latex and surgical gloves.

HP also added its security stack that includes Sure View, to reduce visual hacking, and Sure Sense for built-in deep learning malware protection, to the EliteBook 840 G6 Healthcare Edition and EliteOne 800 G5 Healthcare Edition All-in-One.

There are a couple of additional, and optional, security features: integrated RAIN-compliant RFID location tracking; and, for the EliteBook 840 G5 Healthcare Edition, an optional FIPS 201-compliant fingerprint reader for enterprise-ready authentication and liveness detection.

The new devices are designed to improve patient safety, clinical efficiency and security. The HP EliteBook 840 G6 Healthcare Edition is powered by 8th Gen Intel Core processors and the EliteOne 800 G5 Healthcare Edition is powered by 9th Gen Intel Core processors. It’s also cart-mountable for added mobility. The EliteBook features next-gen connectivity with gigabit class 4G LTE and both offer Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.

With sanitation at a premium for health-care facilities, the devices are designed to be disinfected with germicidal wipes without damaging them, with added support for accelerated hydrogen peroxide formulations. HP offers HP Easy Clean 2.0 for sanitizing without the need to power down the device.

HP first entered the health care space in 2016 with the HC270 and HC240 monitors.

In late May, HP beat Wall Street’s earnings and revenue estimates for its fiscal second quarter, with $14 billion in revenue, compared to analyst estimates of $13.95 billion. The personal systems net revenue was up 2% year over year, while print net revenue was down 2%.
