Both Tech Data and Synnex partner with a wide range of cybersecurity vendors. So, how will the two distributors merging impact them?

The planned merger creates the world’s largest distributor, as Synnex buys Tech Data for $7.2 billion. The deal should close in the second half of 2021. The combined company will serve businesses in more than 100 countries across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific.

We polled a number of cybersecurity vendors to get their thoughts on this mega deal.

“We consider the Synnex/Tech Data merger to be a positive step for the channel industry for many reasons, including scale, technology investments, portfolio expansions, etc.,” he said. “Our expectation is that the best processes, platforms and practices from both companies will remain in order to provide a best-in-class experience for mutual customers and partners.”

In addition, the merger will change the global landscape of two-tier IT distribution, Courchesne said. That will allow for vendor opportunities in various regions depending on the current partnerships and coverage.

While there are still obviously a lot of details to navigate in the coming weeks and months, we are confident this merger will allow us more opportunity to streamline operations and ultimately deliver more value and seamless experiences to our shared customers and partners.”

Jeff Van Natter is Trend Micro‘s director of U.S. distribution.

“Tech Data is a longtime, strategic distributor for Trend Micro,” he said. “We’re pleased to hear the news that we’ll soon have an opportunity to continue to increase our channel depth and breadth with the people and partners who work with Synnex.”
