LogMeIn Enters Enterprise Cloud File Sync and Share, Competes With Google, Box
LogMeIn (LOGM) this week introduced a business version of its Cubby cloud-based file sync and share product to help IT professionals with managing data. The new business-grade solution puts LogMeIn in an already crowded market.
Cubby Enterprise aims to bridge the gap between IT demands and employee preference by enabling IT to manage company data, while providing employees with choice, the company said.
Cubby Enterprise enables IT to oversee how information is being used, monitor employee activity in real time and enable single sign-on through Active Directory.
LogMeIn CEO Michael Simon said in a prepared statement that LogMeIn’s customers divide file sync and share solutions into two categories: “complex, managed offerings built for IT but loathed by employees, or consumer-grade offerings that win over employees but fall far too short on security and control.”
“Unfortunately, that has left too many businesses with little choice but to either aggressively block such consumer apps or, more often, allow their use and take on the inherent security risks of company data being shared across both work and personal devices,” he said.
Pricing for Cubby Enterprise begins with yearly subscriptions starting at $39.99 per month per groups of five users.
“With Cubby Enterprise, we’re aiming to give businesses the best of both worlds by bringing together LogMeIn’s deep understanding of IT management with our proven experience building popular apps,” Simon added.
Other major players in the online file storage and sharing space, Google (GOOG) and Box, have recently been making changes, too.
Google this week slashed the pricing of its monthly plans for Google Drive to make the well-known storage platform more affordable to its users.
Box, possibly on its way to publicly announcing its IPO filing, last week projected its revenue this year to double to more than $200 million, Bloomberg reported.
