File Sync and Share Provider OwnCloud Closes $6.3M Funding Round
Cloud-based file sync and share technology provider ownCloud plans to officially announce tomorrow that it has closed a $6.3 million Series A funding round.
The company said it plans to use the funds to expand sales, marketing and development efforts in the United States and Europe.
Devonshire Investors and existing investor General Catalyst Partners led the round. They were joined by customers and existing angel investors.
OwnCloud co-founder and Vice President for Strategic Partners Holger Dyroff told Talkin’ Cloud that the file sync and share provider also plans to extend its channel partner program with the funding.
“OwnCloud offers a great way for trusted providers to offer customers a secure file sync and share alternative,” he said. “Helping to identify those businesses and help them thrive will be critical moving forward.”
OwnCloud raised $4.4 million in December 2013 for the company’s sales and marketing, and developer organizations.
In association with the funding round, Devonshire Managing Director John Raguin will join the company’s board, where he previously served as a board advisor
OwnCloud this week also released ownCloud Enterprise Edition 6, the newly released version of the file sharing and syncing platform.
