Desktop as a Service: Host It Or Manage It (Or Both?)
Date | Available On Demand |
How can MSPs build a desktop as a service (DaaS, aka desktop virtualization) business practice? Can you simply manage customers' on-premises VDI systems? Or should you build and host your own DaaS solution for customers? I heard some advice from three key experts yesterday: Chris Chrobocinski, VP, Managed Services, MTM Technologies; Umar Jan, Director, IT, Managed Services, AKN; Lax Sakalkale, Sr. Director, Product Management, CA Nimsoft. All three will share more thoughts during our next Channel Exert Hour webcast, scheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 21 at 2:00 p.m. ET/11:00 a.m. PT.
During our prep call yesterday, I heard how AKN focuses on the SMB market and MTM focuses on the enterprise space. So their approaches to the DaaS market vary. But they have some things in common: They leverage Citrix-oriented virtualization in many instances, and they also use CA Nimsoft's technology for DaaS management and monitoring.
Want to gain insider tips from each of those experts? Then join me for our next Channel Exert Hour webcast, scheduled for Feb. 21 at 2:00 p.m. ET/11:00 a.m. PT.
I look forward to making sure that each of our three guest speakers answer as many of your questions as possible during the webcast.
I think the one option that is left out in this brief description is the opportunity for an MSP to utilize a hosted DaaS offering as a reseller. This provides the MSP an added recurring revenue mechanism without them having to invest all of the capital to build out the structure. Finding a partner to work with in this space can be a critical decision. MSPs can have an immediate DaaS offering instead of waiting to implement it in house for their customers. And we can help provide that immediate, proven solution.
