Wyse Bolsters Thin Client Portfolio with Trellia Acquisition
We all know Wyse, the thin client company that has been battling it out with HP over market share, technology and innovation. Now, Wyse has scooped up Trellia, a company that focuses on “cloud-based mobile infrastructure management.” Simply put, Wyse is adding a whole bunch of cloud power to its virtualization lineup. Here’s what to expect …
Wyse likes Trellia for its cloud-based management technology that allows for mobile device management to happen in the cloud, without complicated software or hardware requirements. Trellia’s focus is on the iOS/Android/BlackBerry ecosystem of devices, but that doesn’t mean its technology can’t be adapted for others.
With Trellia’s technology integrated in Wyse’s offerings, Wyse can make thin client management an access-anywhere solution, making it easier for companies to adopt iOS and Android devices as virtualization portals that comply to corporate policy. Wyse also promises the Trellia technology is scalable and can support a range of different needs, work situations and more. The Trellia acquisition also aligns closely with Wyse’s PocketCloud VDI application, which is iOS- and Android-compatible. As mobile device management heats up, alongside consumerization of IT and virtualization, Wyse is ensuring it has all the tools necessary to build out an end-to-end mobile infrastructure without partners and customers needing to look elsewhere for missing components.
All eyes should be on Wyse in 2012. Distribution companies are gearing up their cloud solutions and the world is moving ever closer to a mobile-focused post-PC work era, and so companies that specialize in security, cloud, compliance and device management will be the real winners for both the industry and the channel.
