Wanova Mirage 2.0 Now Features Enterprise Scalability
When we last spoke to Wanova in December 2010, the company was touting its new partner program for the Mirage virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) software. Now, Mirage is getting a serious facelift with version 2.0. What comes in the new version and what can we expect for partners? Here are the details
First, here’s the quick update on what Wanova Mirage 2.0 is bringing to the table:
- Enterprise-level scalability: Mirage’s hybrid VDI approach now can be centralized into server nodes that can handle 1,500 clients at a time. All nodes and clients are accessible from a single interface. Adding to that flexibility is dynamic server clustering so the infrastructure can grow or shrink to match company needs.
- Optimized branch delivery: With the enterprise comes the branch office, and Mirage 2.0 has been designed to provide VDI base-image transfers more quickly to branch offices without the aid of more complicated networking hardware, via new optimizations.
- New support and compliance: Mirage 2.0 allows for re-imaging a PC over WAN due to new restore capabilities to just fix the underlying system files or recover to the last best-known state. All the user’s settings and data can be maintained. Mirage 2.0 also supports saving desktop snapshots into a year, boosting compliance standards.
- Try before you buy: A free, five-license, 30-day trial of Mirage 2.0 is available now.
Michelle Borovac, Wanova’s vice president of marketing, noted resellers and MSPs in particular are most excited about Mirage 2.0’s dynamic storage and server infrastructure scalability. “It makes it a lot easier for them to expand and contract to meet the changing needs of their business, ” she said “We’re excited. Mirage 2.0 is based on lots of years of work and we’re getting a really good response so far.”
Borovac added that partners are being extensively trained on the new technology — part of Wanova’s commitment to its partners. “We love the channel!” she said.
