Longtime Intelisys president Jay Bradley celebrated a major honor from partners on Thursday.

The industry’s biggest cable providers recognized Bradley with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Cable Awards virtual event.

Craig Schlagbaum, senior vice president and channel chief of Comcast Business, said the cable executives unanimously picked Bradley for the inaugural award. He called Bradley “instrumental in the growth of the industry.”

“To me, Jay Bradley is the straightest shooter you’ll find. He’s a visionary, a team player, a collaborator, a leader, a mentor,” Schlagbaum said. “He truly cares. He’s selfless to the end, and he’s helped make this space more relevant for every single master agent and agent getting awarded today.”

Schlagbaum said Bradley urged cable vendors to rethink their commission strategy in 2011. His prompting helped create “a major turning point in the channel.”

Bradley thanked Intelisys teammates, cable providers, agents and other channel partners who have worked with him over the years.

“A huge thank you to all the sales partners for seeing this truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. For changing their business models to make it happen,” Bradley said.

Bradley stepped down from his role as Intelisys president earlier this year. ScanSource, which owns the master agent, announced that Mark Morgan would take the position. Bradley took on an advisory role.

“Being president of Intellisys has been a great ride. I’ve been fortunate to work with a wonderful team and the best sales partners in the industry,” Bradley said in February.

Agent Channel Recognized

Altice Business, Comcast Business, Cox Business, Mediacom, Shaw Business and Spectrum hosted the awards ceremony.

Intelisys enjoyed a big night, as the vendors recognized the master agent for highest total 2019 cable sales. Other master agents, including Telarus and AppSmart, earned awards. The cable providers also recognized top performing agents, including RDS Solutions

The cable providers picked the award winners in February but couldn’t host their annual joint event due to COVID-19. Instead, they hosted the awards ceremony via Microsoft Teams on Thursday.

A Prosperous 2019

The awards recognized 2019 partner performance, which by all accounts boomed. But there’s also hope for 2020, despite the pandemic’s impact.

For example, Darcee Nelan, CEO of Colorado-based boutique consultancy IQ Wired, said the company sold a large amount of Ethernet services to hospitals.

“Who could have known at the time how critical that infrastructure would be going into COVID-19?” Nelan said.
