AT&T’s Matt Hickey

Matt Hickey is the company’s new vice president of global public sector channel marketing. He will oversee promotion for all technologies and solutions AT&T partners offer to customers in local, state and federal institutions. He is responsible for industry events, sponsorships, paid media and all other marketing aimed at government customers.

“Government agencies are using commercial-off-the-shelf solutions more and more,” said Kay Kapoor, president of AT&T Global Public Sector. “Matt’s experience on the commercial side of our business can help us bring increased innovation to our public sector customers.”

Hickey most recently served as vice president of AT&T’s business solutions unit. He has also worked as vice president of business customer services for AT&T’s wireline business-to-business unit. The company says he has more than 25 years of experience in technology and sales.

AT&T says its sold $14.8 billion worth of transactions to public customers last year. The corporation launched its global public sector organization in April of this year.

“This is an important focus area for AT&T,” Kapoor said at the time of the launch. “Our public sector and education customers are a top priority. By bringing all public sector teams together, we can improve the value and partnership we offer to these customers.”

AT&T is constantly pushing out news due its sheer size and the multitude of markets it touches. The company recently previewed its goals for “edge computing,” and on the channel side, it rolled out new mobility APIs and IoT training for its Partner Exchange program.
