Do you treat your BDR customers the same every day or just when you should?

If you thought MSPmentor couldn’t connect data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) to Valentine’s Day, you underestimated us — we can, and we will.

Try to make a reservation today at your favorite restaurant, and you’ll find out that today has been booked for weeks, maybe even months. Order flowers today, and you’ll watch the rewards points on your credit card jump. Did you want to order a gift online? Too bad, it’s a little too late for that.

If this sounds like you, we’re guessing that you learned nothing about being prepared from the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), an article worth reading for any MSP looking to master disaster recovery (DR) planning on a higher level. Not only is preparation important in DR, but life in general.

Maybe you’re rushing around at the last minute because today is the one day to show how much you care, isn’t that a shame? How can one day sum up the entire year? It doesn’t, nor should it. The same goes for the treatment of your BDR customers.

Are your BDR customers, or customers in general, only important to you during a particular quarter, month or day? They shouldn’t be. Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be the be-all and end-all to your relationship. You’re better than that, aren’t you?

Being in a relationship means you’ll have to work hard, stay committed, and spend time and money. If you’re running out of ways to keep your BDR customers, MSPmentor is here to help:

Sometimes, though, enough may be enough. In that case, it may be best to break things off, but instead of using the “it’s not you; it’s me routine,” MSPs may want to let a customer down easy:

Whether you like it or not, you’re in a committed relationship with your BDR customer, so treat your significant other with respect every day of the year, not just on Valentine’s Day.

Oh, also, Happy Valentine’s Day from MSPmentor.
