MSPs: Do You Practice What You Preach?
Protecting your data and backup disaster recovery (BDR) customers from potential disasters is an important topic to focus on, but it’s also important not to miss another piece of the puzzle: employees.
Sure, many managed services providers (MSPs) focus on being prepared by stressing to customers the importance of having a business continuity (BC) plan and a disaster recovery (DR) plan, but do they practice what they preach?
The only thing more important than your customers’ businesses is your business. If you’re not up and running in the middle of the storm, how can you assist your customers? You can’t (and your customers will be looking to replace you after the crisis is over).
So stay on top of your employees. During a storm, employees keep your customers running, so make sure your employees have what they need to function. Update their contact information. Find a way to seamlessly check up on each of them.
Make your employees feel comfortable; make them feel needed. In times of crisis, it’s your job to keep calm and address any issues your employees may have. By doing this, your employees will want to help you when a customer is in need.
Simply put, take care of your employees during a disaster, and, for the most part, your employees will take care of you.
