Strata Information Technology, Inc. President Pete Robbins says there are several factors to take into consideration before finding the right BDR vendor for management.

Managing data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) and business continuity solutions doesn’t have to be challenging for managed services providers (MSPs) — as long as they pick the right product from the beginning.

When searching for a BDR solution that can effectively and efficiently manage all of your customers, there are several factors to take into consideration, Pete Robbins, president at Strata Information Technology, Inc., told MSPmentor via email.

“When we researched BDR solutions for our clients, beyond just the technology advances that new BDRs provide, managing all our BDRs in one location, quick access to system stats, great vendor support and quick file, system recovery was really important,” he said.

Leveraging what works best for his employees and customers, Robbins said Strata leverages Datto.

“The best feature is the single sign-on, once you’re logged in you can see quickly if there are any issues and jump right into a clients BDR to recover a file for a client or restore a system,” he said.

Robbins said one last feature to look into with a BDR platform is vendor support, which he believes one of the most important aspects a complete BDR solution.

“This is what stopped us from building our own systems,” he said. “Having the ability to have a resource available to check on system issues or to help during a recovery situation is important.”
