Datto Partner Conference 2014: Business Continuity Goes Virtual
Datto on Wednesday introduced an addition to the SIRIS 2 product family, a virtual appliance called Virtual SIRIS.
The Norwalk-Conn.-based data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) and business continuity vendor made the announcement at its second annual partner conference in Las Vegas, where more than 500 managed services providers (MSPs) and value-added resellers (VARs) were in attendance for the product news.
Datto said it designed Virtual SIRIS to enable channel partners to provide their customers with a business continuity solution that can operate on the same platform as their existing virtual infrastructure.
“We’re excited about the virtual space and adapting to the changing market conditions,” Datto founder and CEO Austin McChord said during a conversation with MSPmentor. “We think we that we’re really leading in that direction, and we’re ahead of the curve.”
Virtual SIRIS interacts directly with the hypervisor for virtualization; backs up both physical and virtual machines; and provides a full-feature parity with SIRIS 2.
“We wanted to give our partners the opportunity to sell business continuity to every client they have and not be limited to their existing infrastructure,” Datto Product Director Ian McChord said in an interview.
“This is a major game changer,” CCNS Consulting owner Karl Bickmore told MSPmentor at the partner conference. “Finally the flexibility we have always wanted.”
He added: “Datto is delivering in the next generation of business continuity like no other. Datto products have always been above the rest, but now there is no environment that won’t benefit from the Datto solution.”
Channel partners wanting to demo and purchase Virtual SIRIS will have to wait just a little longer — at least until next week.
In the words of Austin McChord: “Literally, all we have to do is educate our sales team on all the edges.”
