Hybrid cloud backup, virtualization and screenshot backup verification are familiar terms to many managed services providers (MSPs), but the growing data backup and disaster recovery (BDR), and business continuity (BC) market has flooded the channel with an endless list of new vocabulary, making it difficult for MSPs to stay on top of things. Datto has a solution.

Hybrid cloud backup, virtualization and screenshot backup verification are familiar terms to many managed services providers (MSPs), but the growing data backup and disaster recovery (BDR), and business continuity (BC) market has flooded the channel with an huge list of new vocabulary.

Wouldn’t it easier for MSPs if common terms were gathered and promoted through a simple infographic? This way MSPs could share the infographic with customers. (If MSPs have a tough time remembering their ABCs, imagine what it’s like for customers.)

BDR and BC vendor Datto agrees. To assist MSPs with the growing BDR lexicon, Datto put together a simple, colorful infographic, a valuable resource for MSPs looking for a quick reference guide.

The following are just a few examples:

  • H is for Hybrid Cloud Backup — With a hybrid solution, a company’s essential data is backed up locally and is replicated off-site, providing additional data security.  In most cases, three distinct copies of each file exists – on the workstation or server, on the local device and in the public cloud.

  • S is for Screenshot Backup Verification — This technology tests backup integrity at prescribed intervals and proactively identifies bootability issues. The resulting screenshots can be sent to the user in an email. Make sure your BDR solution has it!

  • V is for Virtualization — The process of simulating a hardware platform, operating system, storage device or network resource.  In relation to business continuity, virtualization means the ability to create a copy of a file or system in the cloud.  This enables a business to continue operations in lieu of a technical or natural disaster.

MSPmentor was on hand at the 2013 Datto Partner Conference, covering news from CEO Austin McChord and former VMware (VMW) CTO Steve Herrod.
