As managed services providers (MSPs) wind down after months of summer sun, relaxation and endless vacations, a new season transitions the channel, as MSPs analyze data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) revenue for the third quarter of 2013. Which BDR articles did you miss in August?

As managed services providers (MSPs) wind down after months of summer sun, relaxation and endless vacations, a new season transitions the channel, as MSPs analyze data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) revenue for the third quarter of 2013.

With the third quarter of 2013 coming to an end, MSPs have one last quarter in the year to make improvements toward BDR solutions, strategy. Take the time to reread our past BDR articles, especially articles this past month, to look for ways to improve and end the third quarter with a bang.

While the leaves may not be changing, yet, fall will show its true colors in less than a month:

1. U.S. Regulators Issue BDR, Business Continuity Recommendations

U.S. regulators issued recommendations earlier this month for futures and securities firms to review and update their internal data backup and disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies. The goal is to improve responsiveness to disruptions and reduce recovery time. That’s something that many managed service providers (MSPs) already provide to end customers, but knowing the new government recommendations can help you in your practice.

2. MSP Answers to Customer BDR Concerns Raised by NSA PRISM

With recent revelations about the National Security Agency (NSA) PRISM surveillance program spreading, one managed services provider (MSPs) selling data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) is starting to feel the heat from customers.

3. When Can MSPs Tell BDR Customers That Enough is Enough?

Managed services providers (MSP) in the data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) business should avoid the temptation to fulfill this common customer request: doing more work for the same price.

4. Datto, Kroll Ontrack Partner for Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint Recovery

Data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) and business continuity (BC) vendor Datto is integrating with Kroll Ontrack PowerControls 7.0 to provide source and metadata recovery for Microsoft (MSFT) Exchange Server 2013 and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013.
